Touched like a surgeon for a very second time

So...Bice went under the knife for the second hip.(left side) She did not think the surgery would happen until the fall so when the surgeon called (we were on the boat) we had a quick "all hands on deck" meeting and decided to jump at the chance to have the hip done. (well...bad choice of words as she can't jump with a bum hip!) With just over a week to prepare. Hauled up the anchor and back to home port we went. Because of a possible second wave of Covid and the possibility of elective surgery(s) being cancelled again...this is why Bice gave up her sailing season. Things happened fast..We drove to Sudbury on July 3. The good doctor and nurses poked and prodded, there was some blood to be donated, questions to be asked. They declared Bice was very fit (must be that good country living) and ready. Back to Sudbury on July 7 (operation scheduled for July 8) to stay in a motel (Pet friendly) Bice had to be at the hospital at 10 AM...no exceptions. Surgery happened at 12. All went well...thanks to the doctors, nurses and the skilled machinists and medical engineers that make the titanium hip.We both thought that recovery would take a few days in hospital so I  drove home to brood and worry and tend to chores. Next morning Bice calls and said that she was being released right away that morning! So..back in the car I go for the normally 3 hour drive back to Sudbury. Picked up the "patient" and arrived back home late afternoon. So..I am back in care-giver-mode-on, where Bice gets to suffer my expansive cooking repertoire. (Anything Tuna based is fine by me!!)
