Ice is melting fast and the snow is gone.

So, what to do when the weather warms up, but it's still too cold to work on the boat, plus, a minor detail, the harbour is still solidly frozen? Well, you cut wood for the years to come. After doing an inventory of what was left in the woodshed we were pleasantly surprised to see that we had enough wood for next winter.

The idea is however to always have a 2 year supply, so we will have to cut some more. Not a problem! We also plan to build a garage with a loft, but in order to do this, we have to cut a really big maple tree down since it is in  the way of our plans. It was(!) huge (32 inches dia/.82 m) and a friend helped us with advice and then came over to assist Tim with this job. The 2 of them felled the tree in no time, and now we (well, mostly Tim) are suddenly working on fire wood for the winter of 2020/2021.

Apparently the excavation will start in 3 weeks. We just have to get a letter of conformity and the contractor can start. We will see. It is the island where island time rules. But, things are moving.
On to a completely different topic now. The ice is melting in the North Channel! Lots of open water, and the ice that's left, moved by winds all the time, won't last long. Here a picture of Elizabeth Bay, just down from us, and a Buddha sitting quietly at the shore.
