heading back. July 30. Covered Portage

Before we even left for our holidays, we had planned to explore more of the Massassauga Park. We had spent a day here or there in previous years, but never stayed for a stretch of time.

Here a picture of Winsome II at an abandoned copper mine in the park (taken in 2008)

With that in mind, we decided to slowly but steadily work our way back, and thus found ourselves in Covered Portage again.

We also had planned to meet up with Dick and Jen. We met them 2 years ago, (Catalina 35),and had sort of planned via radio calls to maybe travel together for a bit. Their boat was there, they were somewhere else. However, we knew that after 2 weeks, we would finally meet up. Reason for celebration. Off in the dinghy to Killarney for fish and chips. Stopped by the coast guard on the way back. They wanted to know if we had all the necessary safety equipment, i.e. PFD, whistle, floating line, etc. Of course we did (lol) and even had the boaters' card. Tim also was wearing one of his buddies' Mine Rescue Caps. You could see them looking at it, and with that, the inspection was over. We parted ways, and they asked us" Is it busy in Killarney?" We could honestly say "No" and with that info. they went West or so, direction 'nowhere'. Till this day I am convinced they really wanted to go fishing, and only stopped us to find out how busy it was in Killarney. Sorry, no pictures of Killarney, or the fish and chips. Another year maybe.

Coming back... "Low and Slow" is there with the our friends Colin and Laura. We were the first to hear that they were engaged. Beautiful ring. Reason to celebrate. Out came the cheese, nuts, crackers and wine, and the rest of the day is history.
Dick and Jen had another couple on board, and left early next morning for Collins Inlet. We agreed we would follow 1 day later. We needed some rest after the engagement party.

Here another picture of a really great anchorage.
