Lot has happened since the last posting.
The loft starts to look like a room. Here a progress report in pictures.
Drywall is on. Occasionally I had to help with really big pieces, but it was mostly Tim who did all this
Now the mudding and taping. Tim asked several people for advise, got several words of wisdom. The common mantra was: "Spread the mud on thinly, and you will avoid a lot of sanding." He did follow that, and also got a sander with a hookup to the shopvac, so dust was extremely minimal.
We had some visitors.
Starting with the last ones, since it ties in nicely with the drywall, were Bill and Jill.
Our friend Bill helped Tim with the last of the mudding and taping, and
then, since he enjoys this, went on to put the primer on. All this while
Jill and I were talking, preparing food, and ... Guess for the two of
us it was quite relaxing. For Tim and Bill as well; Bill enjoys work
like this, and it took a boat load of weight off Tim's shoulders.
First to visit was Joan, a friend of ours from Goderich. She was visiting Manitoulin to attend a harp workshop. We spent a really nice day with her; showed her the property, had lunch, and then after lots of talking, and we were all caught up, she had to leave, but not before she pulled her harp out of its case, and played some on the porch.
A few weeks later our youngest daughter from Calgary visited for 3 days. She was only in Ontario for a week, and divided her time between the parental units. She just was totally relaxed and truly enjoyed the quietness of the place, and understood why we chose to live here. We went for some hikes, fishing on the dock, and her and us taking pictures of fungi and animals.

While she was here, we also had an unexpected visitor drop in, much to her joy.
And I cooked her favourite meal: Nasi Goreng, Gado Gado, and Sateh
It was sad to see her go. Hopefully she and her partner can both come next year.
