We have had quite the winter weather here with lots of wind, bitter cold temperatures, followed by mild weather, and even some rain. Never stayed warm enough to melt the snow though. And when the sun comes out, it's very pretty and preferred over no snow, and damp and dark skies. Sunny winterdays is what we like and have gotten used to in the past three years.
Here some pictures of the snowdrifts we have in the driveway, and in the field across from us.
They look high, possibly 90 cm total
The last storm we had dumped an additional 10 cm and things started to drift in again. Since Tim is a volunteer firefighter, he should be able to get the car out of the driveway, so optimist that he always is, he started the noble job of snowblowing while the wind was still howling. I did not venture out to take a picture of this heroic action and just grabbed this image from the webcam.
He gave up after 10 minutes.
All this cold and wintry weather begged for a meatpie for dinner, but also to take advantage of my new hips and fresh snow, so, after preparing a tourtière for dinner, I went snowshoeing with Stella. We went to the cliff on the property and I had to break trail through 40 cm of snow. Tim who had been snowblowing some beautiful drifts from the driveway, after which he proceeded to vacuumclean the house, and while on the job cleaned out the power head, decided to take it easy and stay home.
All of Tim's friends and family know the story of how he turbocharged his mother's vacuum cleaner and launched it into the woods behind their house, so needless to say, I was a bit worried. Contact Tim if you want to know the details.
