We had a very nice christmas dinner in Gore Bay at Dave's and Cheryl's house. They had also invited a couple that we had met several times in the marina and at Christmas last year at their house, and got to know them a bit better. When they heard about my quest for a chair with armrest with a seat height of 18 inches, that would match our furniture, they offered us a chair that they had in storage. For them it was part of a buy from the local flea market. They only needed 2 chairs, but had to buy three. They're happy that it will find a good home, and we're happy that we found a chair with a seat high enough to accommodate the required height for after a hip replacement, and with armrests, that does not rock or swivel. Picking it up on Tuesday.
After Christmas we had Willie and Marian over for 2 days. Good excuse to have an old-fashioned meat fondue. Tim and I still do this, even though all magazines say that it is something from the past. We like it. What is not to like about some good meats, a baguette, a salad and some good dipping sauces. And since cooking it takes some time, you can have wonderful conversations and catch up on the latest news, joke around, and at the same time listen to some good music. Dave and Cheryl were more than happy to attend.
New Year was a quiet evening. Spent some hours at the Community Hall. The board had organized a dance with a live band, preceded by a potluck dinner. We left after a few hours. I can't dance at the moment and Tim just does not dance. Period. Once home we just relaxed, had a glass of wine, and didn't even realize that it was already past 12.
A week later the Silver Water Fire Dept. finally took possession of the new-to-them Fire truck. Tim can do that post. Here just a picture of the handing over of the truck.
We have had some snow and some sun
Also saw some deer in Gore Bay in somebody's backyard.
but a lot of times also grey skies and mild temperatures that ran above zero and rain. However it never lasted long enough to get rid of the snow, just enough for the roads to become ice- and snow-free. Tim had some good hikes with Stella.
