We have some visitors!

All the way from Holland my sisters came. A long flight, followed by a transfer in Toronto to catch a plane to Sudbury where Tim picked them up.

They were really curious to see where we lived after seeing all the pictures we continuously sent and they also wanted to explore Manitoulin itself. So, hikes through the forest were done, a trip to Cooks Dock, and also a trip to Meldrum Bay and the Mississagi lighthouse. Here a picture of part of the gang at Cooks Dock.

Silver Water has a family picnic every year on the Saturday before Canada Day. There is a parade first, hotdogs, ice cream, followed by a ball game. Needless to say that the fire department had their trucks in it. Tim was one of the drivers, and while the parade was lining up, kids asked him if the firemen could spray them with the firehose after the parade. Tim did more than that. He showed them how to prep a hose with all the couplings and valves, and let them spray each other. The pressure was set to low😀.

After that we went Cooks Dock, where Tim and Colin where filling up the tanker before returning it to the firehall. Then a quick lunch and off to  Gore Bay to show Do and Felie the boat, have a drink, and then dinner at Dave and Cheryl's.
The weather has been stunning since Do and Felie arrived and they went for several walks to Cooks Dock, into our forest and just along the roads.
Took them to Little Current, since it is a beautiful drive and the town itself is pretty, and also to show them the waterfront and the swingbridge. The docks were still pretty empty. Hopefully this will change soon.

Showed them Elizabeth Bay on the way back where Buddha is still meditating.
The two of them are surprised and in awe with all the beautiful sights and bays the island has to offer, the friendliness of the people and the lack of traffic. We promised to show them one more bay, Providence Bay. Tim had to go to Mindemoya anyway, which is close by, so we combined it all.

Today is their last full day here. We went to Cooks Dock.

Now nerding away and reading. Although one person thinks that not all can be fun and games, or maybe it is fun for him. This is quite a project and I am sure that Tim will post on this eventually.

Tonight some Indonesian fare. Tomorrow off to Sudbury to drop them off at the airport.
