Water Water EverywhereAnd Plenty To Drink

Here at the Cooks Dock estate we have a dug well. The water tests perfect for the harmful stuff but it is somewhat hard and a bit of sediment in it. A while ago I replaced the pump but not the main pressure tank nor the old piping and valves. Well...several weeks of testing and pressure testing with compressed air it all finally came together and went into service this afternoon. The pressure tank is a Red Lion model RL34 pre charged tank.(34 US Gallons) There is an air chamber in the tank and a rubber bladder which keeps the water and the air pressure separate. This is the preferred way now as the old galvanized tanks were prone to "water locking"

are double stainless clamped. The valves are bronze with stainless balls.
There is a pressure relief valve. (70 psi opening pressure)
For servicing I installed a bottom tap drain and a quick connect air coupler to aid in purging the system of water when the need for maintenance arises. I installed a Pentair "Big Blue"  2 stage filter with 50 micron primary and 5 micron secondary filter. There are 2 one inch shut off ball valves for servicing the filter.
