Little Sand Bay

The weather for July 12-14 was supposed to be hot with no wind. Perfect weather if you don't have a sailboat and just want to be at the beach, get a sunburn, and swim. We do have a sailboat and like to see some wind, enough to move the fearsome Winsome II from A to B. However, there are also some anchorages within a 3-4 hour sail, and they are gorgeous. You would think you're in the Caribbean. These have been mentioned before in this blog, but  if you click here, or here, you will be taken to some older postings. Sandy beaches, clear water, the trees however are more from this part of the world. The anchorages are Little Sand Bay at Christian Island and Sandy Bay at Hope Island. The saying has it that if you can sail there, you should not anchor there, because the water funnels there and causes quite the swells, right into your anchorage. However, pending on the direction you can always find some good spot to drop the hook. Just don't go there when it blows 20 for a day or so. So, off the the Caribbean of the North we went. Good thing it was hot!; It caused an on shore breeze of 12-15 knots. Best sail yet this year. 6-6.5 knots, close hauled, followed by close reached, constant 20 degrees of heeling. Winds came from the NW, but forecast was for southerlies later. Opted for Little Sand Bay, where friends joined us later in the evening. The next morning Tim saw this
