As nice as this all looks and sounds (except for the black flies), more exciting to us is the garage build. We put the pad in 3 years ago, but all the carpenters on the island were solidly booked for 2 years, and then with COVID around, more delays with everything and everybody. All that delay lead to a redesign of the original garage idea. We got an architect involved, and ended up with drawings for an extension of the mudroom, leading to a landing, with a door leading to the garage, and with stairs going up to a humongous loft, with 4 feet high knee walls, a bathroom, and a walk-in closet But still no builder. Tim was already starting to watch YouTube videos on framing, and building, but we got lucky. A new carpenter moved to the island and, after meeting with him and showing him the drawings, and him asking all the right questions, we hired him on the spot. Very nice guy, with a good crew, and very hard workers. We ordered the building supplies
and then the gang started. And they worked hard.
Day 1.
Day 2 was for the floor trusses, and the floor
Day 3 was for finishing the framing inside and the parapet walls.
Our view through the skylights will be quite spectacular
