March, and spring arrived early

Not much has happened here. COVID numbers are up and our area is in lockdown. Most of the cases are in Sudbury, but we are part of the P(ublic)S(udbury)H(ealth)D(istrict). Stores are open, but offer access to a limited number of people at a time, public gatherings are a no no, so is going out for dinner, and private gatherings between households are discouraged. We have been doing our groceries, the occasional dog food purchases and trips to the hardware store, and that is our social life in a nutshell. The weather made up for it though. We have had some nice sunny weather this past month with normal to above normal temperatures, 2 good wind storms, but no rain. All this made for a very nice and slow melting of the snow. The path that Tim had cleared with the snowblower was the first to be snow free. Made for some nice, easy walking while Stella could still play in the snow. It was warm enough to enjoy some sunshine out on the porch. Mind you I had to wear a fleece, but only a curmudgeon would make some negative remarks here. Yours truly and Tim shared a Split Rail beer.

And 1 week later most of the snow was gone

The trail at the back of the property is more shaded, so a slower melt. This picture was taken on March 25. I was still snow shoeing here in late February.

and even the daffodils I had put in this past October decided to put in an appearance.

 

The road down to Cooks Dock is very shaded and still covered in slushy snow, but that too will be gone soon.

All this nice weather has now come to an end. It has been cool and wet, and as I write this wet snow is falling and our night temperatures will drop below freezing for a few days. Then, hopefully, back to seasonal weather.
