October came and is almost gone

Time to visit some friends. We went to visit Drew and Jan at their cottage at McKellar.  Had a really good time. Caught up on news and all the things that happened in life in general in the past months. Also played a lot of dominos.

Tim visited the local firehall (no surprise there), and came back with some good information, while I went to Parry Sound with Drew and Jan. Visited Big Sound Marina, the town docks, for old times' sake, and then strolled the main drag. Went  into a new store with some beautiful woodworking. Loaded with furniture and just nice, beautiful pieces of art and things one uses around the house, such as cutting boards, salad bowls, serving trays, and just nice stuff. The workshop was in the back. They have all kinds of CNC and lathes machines to work with, driven by computer programs. Good thing Tim wasn't with us. We would still have been there. They also had local fine art on display. Definitely worth another visit.

The fall colours are late this year, but but finally arrived in all their glory. Truly enjoyed our little piece of property.

Then there was also a birthday to celebrate and such

This beer was well deserved. We built the frame for our new winter cover for the boat and then put the cover on. Quite a job. Now it's done and we can relax. Picking up the 15 lbs turkey tomorrow and then prepare thanksgiving dinner for 8. So, relax mode on. Dinner was perfect. Our friends contributed with dishes, but also with this

Somebody had scraped our brand new cover with a ladder. Duct tape will hold it for this year, but it will have to get a better fix for next year. Sigh.
Went for some more walks on the property. Here some pics of more colours and some shrooms. The last one is not the greatest quality, but ...

And then it was time to bring the cedar logs home. I was really happy that Tim finally gave me a cedar roof on the UTV.

We're actually planning to use them to build a portico sometime. Cedar logs with no flaws in the centre are hard to find, so we think we scored well once again with this find in our forest.
