A Dutch breakfast at home

We left McGregor Bay on our wedding anniversary and had the best sail yet of the season with steady 10 to 12  knots of wind from the South. We were headed North West which put us on a beam reach. Did a steady 6 knots.

Ended up in Hotham, one of our favourite anchorages where we had a delicious pork roast dinner with wine to celebrate it all. The wine was left behind by Peter and Theresa to drink at a special dinner.

Really wanted to head west to visit Beardrop and John Island, but the winds were steadily blowing 15 knots from the west, so decided to stay put. Good thing we did, because friends from Midland texted us out of the blue that they were headed for Hotham and where were we? Had a nice visit with them. The wind calmed down, our holding tank was getting full and Stella suffered from garbagitis, so we decided to head to Gore Bay, our home port for  a few days and then leave again.

Weren't really sure where we would be going, but the decision was made for us when old dockmates from Penetanguishene texted us. They were at Croker and wanted to meet up with us before they were heading for Gore Bay.  Decided on Hotham. Put us close to the McBean channel in case we wanted to  go west, but also gave us a chance to maybe explore some anchorages in the Little Current area, which would put us in a south east direction.
Spent some nice days there and then we parted ways. We hummed and hawed looking at the winds from the east. Perfect for going west, except they were going to change to some really strong southerlies after a few days and then to strong south- and north-westerlies for the remainder of the week. When I say strong, I mean 20 to 25 knots. Ended up at Croker that offers perfect protection in East winds. Helped an American sailor there tie stern to shore and he took a beautiful picture of the Pinnacle with his drone.

Stella had a good time as well reading and playing.

Headed back home this Monday August 26 before the winds piped up to 20 knots from the south. A lot of boats in Gore Bay waiting for the winds to diminish.

After spending the last days of July and most of August on the water, we are now looking at a lot of laundry. I decided that I needed a regular  Dutch breakfast before dealing with all that just to get some extra energy (Tim indulged in ice cream). Yes, real chocolate sprinkles all  the way from Holland. Thank you again Felie and Do.
