Different.Really different. Worked around the house, did some groceries and thought, this is retirement. Really hot here as well. Too hot to go outside, so most of the first week of holidays was spent inside, except of course for the days we went on road trips to look at boats. Made an offer on one, and we would have offered more, had the owners cleaned the head after being on the boat for 3 weeks (it looked gross and smelled like a pig farm), the anchor chain was loaded with fresh wet mud (why not rinse the chain when hauling the anchor) and had the engine's rear crank shaft seal not leaked oil, which could be caused by excessive blow-by from a worn out engine according to my volvo mechanic (hmmm, didn't that happen to the Volvo engine on the Winsome II one May weekend a few years ago?) We had hoped that the engine would go for at least 1 season and then we would re-power, but that was not very likely. Our offer reflected this (58). The owners came back with 67 v. 69 asking and had it been a clean boat we would have said 65, but it wasn't and what other issues are you going to find at that point and how badly do you want the boat? We said, okay, no thank you, and walked away.
Then Marjo came, and we had a great time. Talked a lot and caught up on personal lives. She is extremely happy with the school she is teaching at in Calgary and hopes to live in Alberta for the rest of her live. Loves the mountains and all the activities and nature. Had a mother/daughter trip to the beach. Absolutely not planned, very much not organized. Brought some water and towels, and that was it. Needless to say that it was lunch time, we were hungry, and how long can you float and bake anyway. Once hungry and at the poit of getting a sunburn we left.We had chocolate gelato for lunch on the way back, followed by chips for desert.
Now she's gone and we're getting organized to go to Nova Scotia for 2-3 weeks. Should be a blast
