Early launch? Really, it happened!

After all the misery I so happily wrote about, we finally got a break. And was it ever. Weather forecast said, sun, sun and more sun, and temperatures around 17-20. Booked a motel for two nights, took Friday off and we went to the marina in the morning, figuring if we could at least get the winter cover off and the frame stored away, it would be a good day. Weather was sunny as could be and the temperature just kept going up. Started out with jeans, shirt, fleece and all that stuff, by the end of the day I was sincerely wishing for shorts and a tank top. And, we also got the anti-fouling on. So, one step ahead of the game. Next day back to the marina at 10:30 or so, Tim started to wax, I entertained the dog and then helped Tim a bit. The waxing went fast.



 

We had the boat buffed and waxed professionally last year, and it made life very easy this year. We thought we would be at it for the usual 2 days, but it became clear to Tim that we would be done by 1 o'clock. So off to the office Stella went, with me in tow, and we asked if it was possible to launch the mighty Winsome II at 1, and yes they could and at 2 we were in the water.

 

She did not sink, the engine started and we were in our slip. I sent Tim off to get some beer and wine to celebrate (we really were not prepared for this), while Stella and I waxed the companion way, so we could put the dodger up.

Had a bit of a sleep in on Sunday, then back to the boat to wash the deck. We were fantasizing about being retired and you have this kind of weather, and a heater (not yet, coming though) and you could just go for a few days. Instead we just went home and visited D&C in Creemore on the way home and and  had a really good time there.

 Good weekend, even though my car now needs  work. The CV joint in the drive shaft started to fail. Made it home. 1 car family for the week I guess. Oh well. Tim can drive Ms. Bice:)
