Christmas and New Year

December 24 was a sunny and warm day. The high hit 14 Celsius that day. We took Stella for a walk in London that day and had some good company.

That afternoon Maaike arrived to spend some days with us. Marjo stayed in Calgary. First time for her to not spend Christmas with a parental unit. Parents of her friends took good care of her though and apparently fed her lots of turkey. Something we did not have this year. Had the traditional fondue on Christmas Eve and Prime rib on Christmas day. Had a good time and it was nice to catch up on things.

Also tired poor Stella out with some long walks. Her preferred spot to rest while we have dinner is under the table.

Had planned some road trips, but did end up staying here, partially because the weather was wet=rain and windy and partially because Tim still had some computer projects on the go. That's all finished now.

New Year's Eve was spent with Drew and Jan and Stella's friend Maggie. We had a very light dusting of snow and just enough of a minus temperature to freeze the ground. The dogs played outside for a few hours and for the first time since November were not covered in mud when coming in. We played inside. A Dutch board game called "Mens erger je niet". Apparently it is called "Sorry" in Canada, Lots of fun. We all had some good stuff to eat and the dogs got a treat as well.

Then we woke up on January 1st to a white world. Finally snow. Tim and Stella shovelled some snow. She was a good help.
