What to say ... We had both taken Friday August 30 to head for 12 Mile Bay.Winds forecasted SW 10-15 knots for Friday. Perfect. Both sails up, winds were 5 knots. Long live the iron sail. We did get there, then it rained a bit, and once it stopped some C-dockers joined us for some wine. Next day, Saturday, sun, and nice temperatures. All the boats anchored were sailboats, and we knew 4 of them quite well. One has 2 young kids, so 5 o'clock on the rocks. No pictures. In the meantime 2 powerboats had anchored and started to drink and play their music. Loudly. Oh well, long weekend, you expect it. What you don't expect is that the anchorage becomes a raceway, with the music, techno and opera, from a sound system that would make any discjockey jealous, women going nuts and it went on till the wee hours of the morning. You would expect them to be sick, hungover, something, but no, nothing. They were uo early and started again. Hmmm, drug induced? Main culprit a boat named O Sea D. When you see that boat, get the tools out or something, or just leave. Trash supreme. We all left the next morning. Had to motor, hardly any wind and on the nose. Back in the marine at 3 and went for a road trip to
Moose Dear Point Marina and
King Bay marina. Both pretty remote. This is when I met someone who lives in Michigan and is a US citizen. His father was in the Dutch navy in Drimmelen and he was born in Breda. Not a very flattering picture of me, but this was just too crazy not to post.
This is also where Bill started to serve icecream, The icecream was too hard and the woman couldn't scoop it out of the bin. But Bill was desperate. And that was our weekend.
