Vacation 2012 part 4

Time to head back. Ended up in Covered to wait for a weather window. Extremely windy on Sunday, August 5. Georgian Mist hosted a very nice cocktail hour to celebrate our anniversary. Many thanks again.Winds died in the evening and the next day we had a nice 10 knots from the SW. Heard from other sailors that had left early in the morning that conditions were good and waves down to .5 metre. Off we went, sailing to the Bustard Islands. Saw this

on the way out

Once again a beautiful sail. winds just under 10, beam reach, boat speed 6+. And then it started, wind 12, 13, 14, reef and reef fast. Ended up with double reefed main, no head sail, 2 meter waves, 20 knots true, and boat speed 7-9.5. Scared? you betcha. Waves as high as the boom, dinghy on davits (ouch). We made it, but with shattered confidence. The rest of the week was cool, cloudy and uneventful. Arrived in marina on Thursday afternoon and left on Saturday before all the rain started. Noc back home, and back to work tomorrow.
