Spent an extended weekend in 12 Mile Bay. Winds 20 knots from the NW, right on the nose. We used the iron sail. It is one of our favourite spots, but we only go there when we have 3-4 days, since it takes 5 hours on a good day to get there. Here O'Donnell Point, the entrance to 12 Mile.
When we arrived the anchorage was empty. Never seen that before. We were able to anchor in a small bay off to the side. We had always wanted to anchor there, but it was always taken. This was our chance, and we took it.
Our friends on Casa Mara radioed that they were on their way and wondering if there were any spots left. We could tell them that they could have the rest of the bay. Here they are in 12 Mile Bay, about to enter the anchorage. The wind was really going out there
but calm inside the anchorage. You can see our boat in the background.
Weather was perfect there. Temperatures of 25 Celsius and cooling down to 16 or such overnight. Water was still a bit fresh, but nice enough for a swim.
Suddenly the bay filled up with one sailboat after another and they are all circling. What??? Bayport Marine had its sailing rendez-vous planned for 12 Mile and here are 14 boats, rafted together.
A few more sailboats arrived later, but that was it for the weekend, and everybody was quiet. Nice
Amazing photos Bice. Sounds like you've been having a wonderful July with friends and relatives and the boat. Great to see some summer photos as we sit in the late winter down here.
