Garage update

 Pictures say more than words. However, before putting pictures up, i will do the word-thing. The building crew left, and we, well mainly Tim, set to work. Tim put on the insulation, as much as he could, while Stella was supervising.

In the meantime we had our friends Bill and Jill up for a few days. Bill looked at it all, admired the workmanship of John, the carpenter and his crew, and then questioned why we didn't push for the original plan of extending the mudroom to the garage by removing the outside wall, and have direct access from the house to the loft and the garage. We muttered about cost involved, and the logistics of being worried about unforeseen problems. Bill pointed out that the build of this house was pretty straightforward and that we shouldn't worry too much. He also came up with a great cost saving idea to do at least a roof and floor with just a door to connect the two. When John and his building crew came back after 3 weeks Tim talked to John, who had some some suggestions, and thought he could make it happen in 3 extra days.  We looked at all the material we had left, and realized that this was a non-brainer, and we gave it the go-ahead. As in, let's knock the wall out, and stick to the plan.

First things first though. The windows were put in, except for one that got smashed up pretty badly on its journey here. The doors were also put in, the siding was put on, and the roof was shingled. John also built the  stairs going up. Tim was learning how to put on siding 

And then it was time for this

Murray is a fast and precise worker. He had that roof on there in no time.

While this was happening our friends Drew and Jan came up to stay here for a few days in their trailer. And so it came about that I could take these pictures

After that was done, it was time to hang a garage door

When John and Murray came back on Monday they finished the floor, installation of the last door, siding and that was that for now. They will come back to finish it all, once the windows have come in for the foyer (note how a mudroom changed suddenly into "The Foyer😎" and the replacement for the broken window.

In the meantime we will stain some tongue and groove pine, put the electrical in, and hopefully we do the insulating of the loft.  Hopefully, because it hasn't shipped yet, and without that we can't finish the walls, or anything. At least we will have a garage that we can use, and the tools will be in there as well. Makes for a very nice, be it a non-insulated cold foyer.
