Road trip
February has been extremely cold. Poor Stella was on very short outings with cream on her paws to prevent ice clumps forming. Also mostly grey skies. I used to love February, short, sunny (most of the time), temperatures are getting higher, days are getting longer, etc. Not this year. However, family day weekend (Family Day is a holiday here) was a sunny and not too cold a day, and on a road trip we went. First to Toronto and Barrie to introduce Stella to Maaike and Marjo. Then off to the marina to check on the boat and make sure the batteries were still charged and all that. Roads in the marina were plowed and made for a really nice walk along the docks and such. All was well. Solar panels, when not covered with snow, must have done the job of keeping them charged. They were at 13.3. The same can not be said for Tim's car battery. Driving a standard with a broken wrist is not a pleasure, it actually hurts (fine now, but ...), and Tim has been driving me around and used my car and his has been sitting in the driveway since Christmas. Now his battery is dead and frozen. Considering it's 9 years old, we're not that shocked. A new one is easily bought and put in.
