Whistler 2010 Olympics

Well, what can we say? Whistler is pretty and the mountains are breath taking. This will never change, and that is why we like to go there. We also like to visit Tim's family there, had a really good time with them and we will definitely return.

Of course we never took a picture of the parents. We will have to return for sure now.

The weather wasn't the greatest (a well known fact), but we did have a good time, be it with lots of misgivings on resources taken from elsewhere to make these games possible, not only $$$$ but also police and such for security. So it came about that Tim talked to a few OPP guys that had either been stationed in our lovely luscious Lucan, or knew quite a few people that are there now. Same for the London police force. To get to see an event you had to pay a dear price and then go through a security check equivalent to boarding an airplane.

The speeds are crazy. Could not get a good shot of these guys, so we climbed all the way to the top of the sliding centre, figuring that at the start we would stand a chance.

Also went for a road trip to Lillooet (well we tried, did not quite make it. The road is long and winding with avalanche and falling rock warnings. We had to avoid the occasional boulder on the road. Would not like to take this road at night. We are thinking however to take the plane to Kamloops the next time and then drive to Whistler.

Tim standing just outside of the plot. The snow was 9' high there, we guestimate. The fence is approximately 6 feet high.

We also did the Peak-to-Peak. You go in a gondola from Whistler Mountain to Blackcomb.

Very pretty. On the way back, it started to snow and we couldn't see anything. This was on the day that the men's downhill was postponed.
